We all needed a retreat

(a working one for me, but in paradise)

The night I went to vote, the polling assistant thought my son was a girl (he's really beautiful and has long hair, and people have made this mistake for his whole life), and that I was his Grandma, something that has never happened before. Perceptual errors were well at hand; however, truth be told, we all need a perceptual reset from time to time, so we can refresh our mind's eye. This retreat was that and more.

Our reset was a meditative and experiential journey to completeness. Thematically ripe were we in Grenada, distanced from our professional and domestic, day-to-day responsibilities and in a land of tropical beauty and plenty, replete with fresh everything. We met early in the morning and later in the afternoon for progressive and multidimensional asana, pranayama, mantra and meditative experiences. In between we excursioned. Activity-by-activity, practice-by-practice, we turned our attention to wholeness, individually and as a group, inner and collective. Unanimously, the sadhana revealed the ultimate goal: feeling fulfilled and complete.

In a world that lures us away from fulfillment and delight, from gratitude and contentment, these ritual reminders brought us back to our innate completeness, within and within our microcosms and macrocosm.

Our group just happened to be seasoned travelers, a mixed level of long-term and brand new practitioners and emotionally mature enough to compromise, communicate and go with the general flow, a great boon for a eight completely different humans traveling together. Without a hitch, we return with full hearts and memories of chocolate, fresh juices, snorkeling, pristine waters, waterfall hikes, waterfall bathing, peaceful swims, sheltering under awnings for hours in torrential downpours, practicing patience with each other, white sand, laughs, silence, practice, views to remember forever, and a vibration of collective love and care.

And now - where are we going next? In the works. If you want to be included, let us know the dealbreakers for you, schedule wise - and we’ll try to hold that as we map it out.
